A Tale of Two Ponies and A Tale of Two Sisters come from my childhood on a farm just outside Arborfield, Saskatchewan. My sister and I rode our ponies every day, sneaking out before our parents woke up to begin our adventures. We didn’t have a forest or a creek nearby, but our imagination took us everywhere — we transformed open fields into dusty frontier towns. Inspired by the spaghetti westerns, we protected the innocent as the Lone Ranger did, and we always caught the bad guy.


The adventures my sister and I shared with our ponies are among my favorite childhood memories, and they carried our imaginations farther than any trail could.
