Tales From The Family Tree

I grew up as the youngest of ten children, in a home where noise, laughter, and stories were simply part of the air I breathed. Being the baby of such a large family taught me early how to observe, to listen, and to appreciate the chaos around me. In the midst of that lively environment, my imagination flourished.

Over the years, my family grew even larger—eighteen nieces and nephews, and thirty‑one great‑nieces and great‑nephews. Each one has added to the story that is my life. I’ve always loved children: their honesty, their curiosity, and their ability to find magic in the smallest things. They remind me of the wonder I felt growing up, and they inspire me to keep that wonder alive.

My extended family has grown in beautiful ways as well. Through my sister’s step‑children—and their children, and even their children—I’ve gained an additional branch of family who also call me Auntie. It’s a title I treasure. Whether by blood or by love, these children have become part of my world, and I feel deeply connected to each of them. They’ve given me even more personalities to explore and draw upon for inspiration in the stories I write.

The Path to Aspen Meadow

Professionally, I became an accountant—a steady, structured career that taught me discipline, precision, and patience. But even while balancing numbers, I carried a quiet dream. For many years, I have wanted to write. Stories lived in my mind long before they ever reached paper. Eventually, I began working on a thriller novel, pouring myself into its twists and shadows. But like many writers, I met the familiar wall of writer’s block. Instead of stepping away from writing, I stepped sideways.

I found myself drawn to children’s stories—short, gentle bedtime tales that feel like a warm blanket and a soft light left on. Writing for children came more naturally than I expected. It felt like returning to my own childhood, to the imagination I developed growing up without the distractions of television, the internet, or online games. I learned to create entire worlds outdoors while playing with my siblings. These stories allow me to speak to the children I love, and to the child I once was.

Today, I write with a renewed sense of purpose. Whether I’m crafting a suspenseful chapter for my thriller or a soothing bedtime adventure for little ones, I’m finally living the dream I carried for so long. Writing has become more than a hobby or a goal—it’s the place where all the pieces of my life come together: family, creativity, curiosity, and the desire to make someone feel seen, safe, or inspired.
